EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – WHYALLA

We are currently seeking applications for Regional Coordinating Partner (Full Time) to join our Community Connections program in Whyalla.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND ROLE

The Community Connections Program supports people to increase their independence in the home and to build stronger social and community connections. Strong social connections can improve quality of life and provide better health outcomes.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare estimates that around one in ten people experiences social isolation and that this has a negative effect on their mental and physical health, and their ability to participate in the community.

The Community Connections Program is open to people who live in South Australia, and:

  • are aged 18 to 64 (18 to 49 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples);
  • need short-term support to improve independence or to develop or maintain connections with support networks; and
  • are not eligible for federal programs such as National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and My Aged Care.

Community Connections provides short-term support for up to 12 weeks and helps connect people with longer-term support where required.

Support through the Community Connections Program may include helping people to get involved in local community activities, find new support groups, meet their neighbours, or get some extra help at home.

The objective of Regional Coordinating Partner is to coordinate the program across their region, ensuring that all other partners work together to provide the most appropriate services and support for participants.

The position of Regional Coordinating Partner comprises of 30% direct casework and 70% community work, data collection, reviews and meetings.

SUITABLE APPLICANTS WILL HOLD (or have a willingness to obtain)

  • A formal qualification in Human Services or Management related discipline
  • Current Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Related Employment Screening Clearance, or Working With Children Check. This position is subject to this clearance.
  • Current South Australian driver’s license.

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that the suitable person for this position is fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (including a booster). Evidence will need to be provided by the successful candidate.

Aboriginal Language Interpreting Service

The Aboriginal Language Interpreting Service (ALIS) is looking engage people who are fluent in Adnyamathanha and English to joint their pool of casual interpreters who may be called upon to help Adnyamathanha people.  If you are interested in one of these positions please see the attached documents and complete the application form.

ALIS is a South Australian Government service which employs Aboriginal interpreters from across the state.   These interpreters are used when Aboriginal people need help understanding English in a range of different settings. This includes when dealing with Police, in Court, in health centres and hospitals, with Child Protection and with Centrelink.
